AUSTIN — Sapphire Lake Winery, one of the nation’s largest wineries, announced plans to open a second location in Arizona.
The new site, at 7200 S. Salyer Lane, will be the first in the state, according to a release from the winery.
Sapphire Lake’s expansion will help the wineries grow its winemaking operation, said Jack Ketchum, chief executive officer.
The winery is one of several wineries in Arizona and a prime location to expand, Ketchums said in a statement.
The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with a total of 2,500 jobs, including more than 700 full-time positions.
The addition of two new wineries and a second tasting room in Arizona, along with other strategic investments, have helped to boost the state’s wine industry, the release said.
More to come.
