A diamond ring with a rippling purple-navy-blue sapling ring has been sold at auction in California for $1.2 million.
The ring is a “rippling blue sapphires rhodium and platinum” and was auctioned by the California Department of Consumer Affairs for the rarest of items, the auctioneer said on Monday.
The diamond was purchased by a woman in her late 30s or early 40s, according to the auction house.
The seller will be required to pay for the diamond, which will be appraised and graded.
It was first sold in 2010 for $300,000 by an auction house in Newport Beach, California.
The ring has not been graded.
The seller said the ring is “in pristine condition and has no wear.”
“The ring itself is a diamond with an antique blue sapling on it,” the auction company said.
“The gemstone is very pure and pure blue sapmens.”
